My landscapes feature the lakes and conifers of Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada. I focus on capturing the clarity and crispness of the air, and the relaxing movement of water. It is among these lakes and trees that the mind can find stillness. I want to translate that tranquility on to canvas.
Some of my paintings use realism to capture this, while other paintings are more lyrical in the use of color and shape of individual waves.
Another body of my work is inspired by Pop Art. I play with bright colors to depict familiar items that are meant to bring a smile; some pieces are literally “eye candy”.
My other abstract paintings use color, shape and space to create interest. Your eyes and subconscious are engaged, and your mind becomes open to seeing something new
